Internal Communication Officer
About this role
Job Purpose
The Internal Communication Officer drives the organization's internal communication strategy to build a connected, informed, and inspired workforce.
Key Focus Areas:
- Strategic Alignment: Connects staff, volunteers, and stakeholders with the organization's mission, values, and long-term goals.
- Information Flow: Ensures timely, transparent, and accessible communications across all departments.
- Culture Champion: Actively fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and motivated organizational environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Internal Communication Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communication strategy aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
- Identify the most effective channels and formats for communicating with different internal audiences (staff, volunteers, board members).
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives and recommend
- Maintain a communication calendar to ensure timely delivery of key
B. Content Creation & Management
- Write, edit, and produce internal newsletters, announcements, memos, and
- Manage internal communication platforms including the intranet, email bulletins, and messaging tools (e.g. Teams, Slack).
- Create engaging multimedia content (videos, infographics, and presentations) in coordination with the Video Content Production Section, ensuring it reflects the charity's culture and humanitarian values.
- Coordinate internal coverage of events, campaigns, and organizational
C. Leadership & Staff Engagement
- Support senior leadership in crafting clear, consistent, and inspiring messages for staff- wide communication.
- Facilitate two-way feedback channels between employees and
- Organize town halls, listening sessions, and internal workshops to strengthen organizational cohesion.
- Monitor staff morale and engagement levels and produce regular insight reports for
D. Internal Events & Initiatives
- Plan and coordinate internal events such as awareness days, team-building activities, and recognition ceremonies.
- Support onboarding programmes to help new staff and volunteers understand the organization's culture and values.
- Champion internal initiatives that promote well-being, inclusion, and a sense of
E. Coordination & Collaboration
- Work closely with HR, Programme, and operation teams to ensure consistent and coordinated messaging.
- Act as a liaison between departments to identify communication gaps and provide
- Support crisis communication efforts and ensure timely internal updates during critical
- Follow up on all financial transactions and requests for the Corporate Communication Department in coordination with the Accounting Department.
Qualifications & Experience
A. Education
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in internal/corporate communications is an advantage or a related field with a focus on internal communications
B. Experience
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in internal or corporate
- Previous experience working in a non-profit, charity, or humanitarian organization is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in content production, platform management, and stakeholder
C. Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is strong
- Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, or
- Familiarity with internal communication platforms (SharePoint, Intranet, Teams, Slack).
- Good understanding of project management and organizational skills, ensuring high attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and fast-paced
