Position Summary:

Responsible for the preparation of documents, funding and maintenance of Consumer Loan applications in compliance with applicable Federal, State and NCUA rules, and regulations as the subject matter expert in consumer loan types Maintains loan quality and ensures that loan packages are completely and accurately executed prior to loan funding. Maintain quality service standards set by the organization.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of prior experience in a Consumer Lending Department with both indirect and direct loan experience, and college level math and analytical skills.
  • Effective human relations and professional communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all groups of people.
  • Demonstrated PC and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high intensity environment.
  • Organization skills sufficient to prioritize, manage work flow processes, and meet deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Confirm and verify the appropriate documents are assembled in loan files for proper vesting, Collateral Descriptions, and contract signatures. Ensure accurate data input in related information systems.
  • Processes indirect and direct auto loans, Auto Buying Service loans, as well as other consumer loan types.  Will work closely with automobile dealerships and branch staff to ensure loans are processed and funded efficiently and within established guidelines.  
  • Cross-train within the department to provide back-up, as needed (these duties may fall under the scope of other job functions). Contribute to the success of the department with willingness to share in all department responsibilities.
  • Assist manager with training and implementation of guidelines and procedures to ensure department is in compliance.  Act as a resource for funding and processing of all consumer loan types. 
  • Familiar with standard, practices, and procedures in processing and underwriting consumer loans, reviewing and analyzing data and loan documentation, re-calculating income, assets, liabilities, debt-to-income ratios and loan-to-value ratios.
  • Ensure timely receipt and proper completion of all outstanding loan stipulations in accordance with established procedures and loans are closed within appropriate time frames.
  • Provide and communicate file status as well as clear and concise instructions as to necessary documentation required for loan funding.
  • Prioritize workload to manage timely loan funding’s and track files; Maintain communication with internal staff and dealerships. 
  • Keep current with knowledge of the credit union’s lending updates, criteria, guidelines, procedures, policies and processes. Ensure loan documentation is complete and accurate according to credit union policy requirements, lending guidelines and compliance regulations.
  • Prepare direct consumer loan documentation and disburse loan proceeds according to credit union policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines. Review all loan documents, stipulations and other supporting documentation for validity prior to funding the loan.
  • Contact branch staff, members and dealers to resolve issues and obtain necessary information to complete the funding process.  
  • Answer and service incoming calls and provide accurate and thorough information and assist branches and departments with servicing and funding questions. Provide in depth consumer lending and funding support to branch staff.
  • Monitor and complete assigned tasks on department reports within establish timeframes.
  • Improve current procedures by consistently reviewing system utilization and process workflows and provide recommendations to management.
  • Point of contact for complex processing and funding questions with demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Keep current with knowledge of the credit union’s lending updates, criteria, guidelines, procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Participate in compliance training, as assigned. Adhere to credit union AML/BSA policy and procedures including CTR rules and form preparation, identify and refer suspicious activity to the Compliance Department, perform OFAC comparisons, and properly identify individuals in accordance with Branch Operations procedures.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • May process direct auto loans when needed. 
  • Participate as needed in SDCCU car sales or other events.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
