Position Summary:

The position of Business Service Lending Associate is established to provide operational support and expertise to Business Services in the origination and portfolio management of Member Business Loans. Perform quality assurance reviews and make recommendations for improvements. Maintain quality service standards as set by the organization. 

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • College degree or 2 years equivalent work experience in a financial services setting.
  • 3-5 years lending experience including processing installments, business and real estate loans.
  • Critical thinking aptitude with solid analytical, creative, and problem solving skills and the ability to work well independently.
  • Professional and effective communication; ability to interact with members, staff and outside representatives at all levels.
  • Intermediate knowledge of personal computers, MS Office, and proprietary software. Working knowledge of Internet search tools and methodology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide quality member service consistent with Credit Union standards; respond to member and staff inquiries accurately, and in a professional and timely manner. 
  • Foster and maintain ongoing relationships with key parties involved while maintaining transparent communication throughout the loan cycle and serve as a resource to members and employees with business loan questions.
  • Assist in processing business loan requests and coordinating loan funding.
  • Maintain Business Services member database and generate/review system reports. Monitor data integrity and reconcile as needed.
  • Review commercial real estate loan covenant reporting requirements at origination to confirm accuracy and compliance with Credit Union standards.
  • Prepare, order, and/or review loan documents, appraisals, environmental reports, and other business loan documentation. 
  • Process business VISA and business auto applications. 
  • Make recommendations to create and revise business lending policies and procedures for all business loan products. Work with management to define and establish best practices.
  • Perform loan file audits and prepare loan files for imaging. Perform the commercial real estate annual review process.
  • Participate in AML/BSA compliance training as assigned.  Adhere to credit union AML/BSA policy and procedures including CTR rules and form preparation, identify and refer suspicious activity to the Compliance Department, perform OFAV comparisons, and properly identify individuals in accordance with Branch Operations procedures.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties and assignments as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm.
