Identifies opportunities for connecting with area corporations, organizations and churches within the counties; manages corporate and community events, and volunteers related to service projects and special events, in concert with other members of the Community Relations team. Builds relationships with high-level volunteers within the counties, oversees volunteer efforts for corporate relations, events and Christmas projects. Plans necessary data collection systems and completes ongoing and end of season reports and analysis upon receipt of Corps reports; assists Director of County Community Relations and Fundraising and Corps Officers in other volunteer opportunities as assigned; maintains the data collection of volunteer information for the North Texas Area Command.
Key Responsibilities
Recruits and refers volunteers for designated county, including scheduling and placement for service projects needed by Corps Officers. Collaborates with the Corps to define needs and to recruit and place volunteers at their facility; assists the Director of County Community Relations and Fundraising with other volunteer responsibilities as assigned.
Assists with ongoing development and promotion of a wide range of volunteer opportunities with The Salvation Army Local Corps within counties; recruits, trains, interviews and screens all volunteers needed to support projects.
Coordinates county volunteer activities and work assignments as assigned by Director of County Community Relations and Fundraising; reviews written reports and observes work activities of volunteers to evaluate performance; assists in identifying and recommending changes in assignment of county volunteer staff; informs county volunteers of policies, procedures, and standards of service.
Updates a Volunteer Service Project database monthly which lists and describes multiple volunteer services projects within the county for every Salvation Army program in the North Texas Area Command.
Collaborates with the Corps officers within the county in the planning and coordination of county volunteer information and data collection efforts to produce management reports for Corps Officers and Director of County Community Relations and Fundraising.
Coordinates county Christmas volunteer projects to include Corps locations on-site training and seasonal support staff.
Makes initials contacts with malls within the county prior to the season etc.; confirms participation and details with Christmas volunteer projects and any limitations or requirements imposed by mall management.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle or personal vehicle for business needs.
Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
Some duties are performed seated and sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Volunteer projects will occasionally require standing for at least 7 hours and working in a warehouse distributing toys and other needs to the community; some volunteer projects will be performed outdoors.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.
A portion of the work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like but not limited to the office environment. More than half of the work will be performed at other locations completing volunteer projects that may be inside or outside; volunteer work performed in a warehouse sorting and distributing toys where there are physical discomforts with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

What We Are Looking for in YouEducation and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, non-profit management, social services or similar,
AND
Three years’ experience performing volunteer coordination with a non-profit organization,
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
