QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience
- Minimum of three months as a manager trainee or similar experience
- Experience scheduling staff
- Must have people skills and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to merchandise product and to produce effective sales
- Ability to work with the public in a professional manager
- Ability to mentor and train beneficiaries
- Customer service mindset
- Team player with a spirit of cooperation and work with all others towards goals set by management
- Valid in-state driver’s license, with a clean MVR
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise staff with respect to performance of duties to ensure compliance with directives and guidelines.
- Evaluate employee’s performance at the appropriate time – after 90 days, then at each anniversary
- Ensure smooth running of all store operations – from customer relations to stocking of new product
- Ensure store always looks neat and clean, free of debris and very presentable
- Follow all daily income handling procedures, including POS procedures, policies for counting and banking income.
- Ensure current work schedules are posted at the store and sent to administrative office.
- Ensure timecards are accurate, signed, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Work with staff to ensure all sales associate responsibilities are accomplished, engaging in that process also
- Be creative in setting up promotional and sales displays
- Make achieving higher sales a continual process, encouraging staff and thereby making it a team effort
- Continue to learn from other companies better and/or best way of marketing and making more sales
- Answer customer questions or concerns with courteousness
- Ensure all mark-down and rag-out policies are adhered to.
- Ensuring all truck deliveries are performed with appropriate manifest, signing same
- Ensure OSHA guidelines are followed.
- Responsible for promptly reporting to immediate supervisor all accidents, personal injury, or property damage
- Act as personal representative of The Salvation Army, supporting its mission, treat all customers and/or donors courteously
- Assist sorters, warehouse workers and truck drivers with their duties when deemed necessary and assigned by the thrift store manager
- Handle other duties as may be deemed necessary and assigned by your supervisor for the efficient operation of the Thrift Store

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally help to lift and/or move up to 75. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
