 Utility

The Utility is responsible for all areas of meal clean up and dining prep. The purpose of this position is to assist the Dining Room Manager and/or Culinary Director in guaranteeing a high level of hospitality, service, and satisfaction for residents and guests by managing the dining room and kitchen clean up service.

What does Utility at Sagora do? 

  • Collect dishes and kitchen utensils from the tables during mealtimes.
  • Wash dishes and kitchen utensils, assuring highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Eliminate stains from all utensils.
  • Monitor the temperature of the dishwashing machine on a daily basis to ensure that the machine is operating properly. Notify the Culinary Director promptly of any unacceptable temperature readings.
  • Remove from service all cracked or broken dishes or damaged utensils that might be hazardous to residents. Notify the Culinary Director of damage.
  • Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for use at the next mealtime.
  • Under the direction of the Culinary Director, follow established methods of meal preparation and decoration
  • Set up tables and beverage station and refill all salt, pepper, and sugar dispensers.
  • As directed, assure all salads and desserts are properly portioned.
  • Serve meals to residents promptly and in a friendly and courteous manner. Deliver meals to residents’ rooms as needed.
  • Dispose of all trash in a proper manner.
  • Clean dishwashing machine inside and out after each shift. Deep-clean kitchen on a monthly basis.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floor, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer each evening.

What do you need to be a Utility? 

  • Six (6) months or more of experience in a commercial kitchen operation is preferred
  • Must have food handler’s permit as required by state and /or local authority
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will be caring, organized, and able to multi-task
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with residents, families, guests, and other associates in English
