Senior Software Engineer III
About this role
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Tech Lead to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Ruby on Rails, cloud-native architectures, microservices, and modern engineering practices.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can guide development teams, drive architectural decisions, ensure code quality, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade applications using Ruby on Rails.
- Define scalable architecture and technical solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Drive technical discussions, solution reviews, and architectural governance.
- Establish development standards, coding guidelines, and best practices.
- Identify technical risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.
2. Application Development
- Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications and APIs using Ruby on Rails.
- Design and implement RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, availability, and security.
- Ensure high code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
3. Team Management & Mentoring
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
- Support team members in technical problem-solving and career development.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps teams, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Participate in effort estimation, release planning, and project execution.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in Ruby on Rails development.
- Proficiency in Ruby, Rails ecosystem, and related frameworks.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and design patterns.
- Expertise with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other relational databases.
- Good understanding of caching technologies such as Redis and Memcached.
- Experience with background job processing tools such as Sidekiq, Delayed Job or Resque.
- Hands-on experience with Git and version control systems.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, including TDD/BDD.
