Position Overview
SBS is seeking an experienced Release Manager to lead the end-to-end software release lifecycle for our Digital Banking Solutions (DBS) portfolio.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, governing, and delivering product releases across multiple Agile teams and stakeholders. You will ensure that releases are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and align with business objectives. Acting as the central point of coordination, you will drive release planning, execution, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality, customer-ready software.
This role requires a strong leader who thrives in a matrix organization, can influence without direct authority, and has extensive experience managing enterprise software releases in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
Release Planning & Governance
- Own the complete end-to-end product release lifecycle, from planning through deployment and production handover.
- Define release objectives, milestones, timelines, and execution plans in collaboration with Agile Managers and Product teams.
- Coordinate multiple Agile streams to ensure alignment and synchronization throughout the Program Increment (PI).
- Plan and manage multiple product versions, customer-specific releases, and maintenance streams.
- Establish release governance processes and ensure adherence to organizational release standards.
Release Execution
- Drive successful execution of release activities across all development, testing, and deployment phases.
- Monitor release progress against agreed plans, milestones, quality gates, and delivery commitments.
- Facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning, execution, and review ceremonies to maximize delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and remove blockers impacting release execution.
- Lead release readiness reviews, quality gate assessments, and deployment approvals.
- Maintain build, deployment, and release documentation to ensure operational consistency.
- Oversee successful transition of release deliverables to Product Delivery and Operations teams.
- Coordinate Software Risk Assessment (SRA) activities for Product Intake and serve as the primary R&D point of contact.
Risk & Stakeholder Management
- Identify, assess, and manage release-level risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with Agile Managers, Product Managers, Product Owners, Architects, QA, Technical Leads, Scrum Masters, and DevOps teams to resolve delivery challenges.
- Escalate critical issues proactively and drive timely resolution.
- Communicate release status, risks, quality metrics, milestones, and scope changes to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure transparency through regular reporting and governance dashboards.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvements in release management processes, governance, and operational efficiency.
- Leverage AI-powered tools and automation opportunities to improve planning, reporting, release quality, and team productivity.
- Contribute to improving Agile delivery practices and release predictability across engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of overall experience in software development, delivery, or program management.
- Minimum 3 years of independently managing end-to-end software releases or complex technology programs.
- Strong experience managing enterprise software releases in Agile environments.
- Proven experience coordinating multiple cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication and executive reporting capabilities.
