The Methods & Tools team enables the digital transformation of RWE Offshore Wind’s Engineering department. As a Data & AI Engineer, you will design, build and scale backend applications, databases, APIs and cloud-based solutions that support engineering and renewable energy operations across RWE Offshore Wind. Working closely with Methods and Tools Product Owners and domain experts across Engineering, you will drive platform integration, data governance, AI-enabled solutions and the evolution of resilient, business-critical digital products.
About the role
- Design and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, databases and cloud-native applications.
- Integrate tools and data platforms to create centralized and scalable solution frameworks.
- Enable seamless data exchange and interoperability across functions and operating companies.
- Support AI-driven automation, analytics and reporting solutions.
- Strengthen data governance and maintain trusted single sources of truth.
- Scale and improve existing tools to increase resilience, reduce risk and maximize business value.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, engineers and subject matter experts to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Ensure high quality through testing, documentation and modern software engineering practices.
Job requirements and experience
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in backend, software, or data engineering roles, with strong Python and REST API skills.
- Experience with SQL databases; knowledge of NoSQL and vector databases is beneficial.
- Experience with Azure or comparable cloud platforms, including containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with modern data platforms, preferably Databricks, including Lakehouse architectures, Lakebase, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
- Experience building AI applications using LLMs, agents, RAG, and workflow orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and agile software development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience in complex enterprise environments and fluency in English.
