Job Title:
Automation Technician
Job Summary:
This position will provide Automation-I&E support to Southeast New Mexico Oil and Gas Operations working a 5/2 schedule.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Experience in maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls in oil and gas processing facilities, with a strong emphasis on gas compression facilities.
  • Work as a team to maintain and install Automation-I&E equipment such as PLC components, wired and wireless transmitters, communications equipment, HMIs, and related equipment.
  • Safety-conscious, team-oriented self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for engaging in and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Use SCADA systems to monitor operations.
  • Perform the Lockout/Tagout process on required equipment.
  • Perform other operational duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs, Allen-Bradley equipment, Fisher ROCs, Emerson Rosemount devices, and related equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and components.
  • Knowledge of communications equipment such as FreeWave, XetaWave, Red Lion, ABB, Cambium, and fiber-optic systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced facility personnel.
  • Understanding of oil and gas production equipment and operations.
  • Must be able to become certified to work at heights using appropriate fall protection.
  • Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures.
  • Once adequately trained, contractors will be expected to participate in a callout rotation covering nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Required to work late as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced Automation-I&E personnel.
