Ready for a career change or just starting out? As a Body Shop Technician, you play a critical role in restoring class 8 diesel equipment to its original beauty and performance after damage. In this role, you will expertly repair or replace damaged body components, bringing Class 8 diesel equipment back to pre-accident conditions while adhering to strict factory and dealership specifications.

 

  • Review each repair order, work order, and estimator’s notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on any class 8 diesel equipment.
  • All repairs must be completed according to the documentation on the repair order or the supplement.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturers and technical repair process.
  • Ability to use frame and measuring equipment per vendor specifications.
  • Perform initial teardown of Class 8 diesel equipment.
  • Identify parts for cut-in and edging.
  • Perform all repair procedures according to factory specifications and company policy. I-Car Standard.
  • Perform and sign-off on all quality checks before sending Class 8 diesel equipment to paint department.
  • Re-assemble painted Class 8 diesel equipment and painted parts.
  • Perform a final quality check and review of work order prior to sending the Class 8 diesel equipment to the detail department.
  • Work with apprentices or lesser skilled technicians in developing repair skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three years’ body shop experience.
  • ICAR Welding Certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
