Lead the future of Building Control in one of London's most high-profile boroughs.
The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea is seeking experienced and forward-thinking District Surveyors to play a pivotal role in delivering building safety, regulatory excellence and service transformation within our Building Control Service.
This is a rare opportunity for senior Building Control professionals to lead on complex, high-risk and high-profile projects while helping shape the future of building safety in the post-Grenfell regulatory landscape.
The Opportunity
As District Surveyor, you will provide both technical and operational leadership across the service, ensuring compliance with evolving legislation whilst delivering a high-quality, customer-focused Building Control function.
You will lead the regulation of major developments, oversee governance and compliance requirements, manage and develop Building Control professionals, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, elected members and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking leaders who can combine deep technical expertise with strong commercial and people management skills.
You will bring:
Chartered membership of CABE, CIOB, RICS or an equivalent professional body.
Registration as a Class 3 Building Inspector.
Extensive Building Control experience, including major, high-risk and complex developments.
Expert knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety legislation and fire safety compliance.
Experience leading regulatory services within a changing legislative environment.
Proven success managing teams, budgets, performance and service improvement initiatives.
Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to influence senior decision-makers and regulators.

Flexible Working

Full-time employees are expected to be present within the Borough three days per week.

Housing and Social Investment: In response to London’s affordable homes crisis, the Council is committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. Housing also covers landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes, and build stronger communities.
Resources: This directorate includes Customer Services, Human Resources, IT, Finance. These services help the Council to run effectively and in turn benefit the wider community.
