About this role

 

The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electronic products meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves performing inspections, audits, and testing throughout the manufacturing process to identify and correct quality issues, maintain compliance with IPC standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Inspection & Testing

    • Perform visual and dimensional inspections on PCBAs using magnification, microscopes, and automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment.

    • Conduct first article inspections, in-process, and final inspections according to IPC-A-610 and company standards.

    • Verify component placement, solder quality, and assembly integrity per work instructions and specifications.

    • Execute electrical testing, functional tests, and continuity checks as required.

  • Quality Control & Documentation

    • Record and maintain inspection results, defect data, and test reports in quality management systems.

    • Identify, document, and communicate nonconformances; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

    • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and segregation of nonconforming materials.

    • Support calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement tools.

  • Process Improvement

    • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.

    • Participate in quality audits, process capability studies, and failure analysis activities.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement programs (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).

  • Compliance & Standards

    • Ensure adherence to IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality and regulatory standards.

    • Support internal and external quality audits.

    • Maintain a safe and organized work environment consistent with ESD and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electronics, Quality, or Manufacturing preferred.

  • 2–5 years of experience in electronic manufacturing, preferably in PCBA or EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services).

  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards (certification preferred).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of PCBA processes (SMT, through-hole, reflow, wave soldering).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation.

  • Proficiency with inspection tools (calipers, microscopes, AOI systems, multimeters, etc.).

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and documentation skills.

  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, ERP/MES/QMS systems).

Schedule

  • 8-hour shift, Monday–Friday

Pay Range
$24$28 USD
