About this role

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Junior Accountant to join our accounting team in the construction industry. This is a permanent position that will play an important role in supporting the company’s financial operations. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and will work closely with the Accountant I and other members of the accounting and operations teams.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and reconcile financial accounts, including bank, balance sheet, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare routine journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Assist with accruals, prepaids, and other routine accounting functions.
  • Identify, research, and resolve routine discrepancies and variances, escalating issues requiring additional analysis or accounting judgment.
  • Prepare accurate and timely productivity and financial reports.
  • Assist with month-end close activities and ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Support audit activities by gathering documentation and preparing requested schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with the Accountant I and Accounting Manager to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Provide cross-functional and accounting support as needed and progressively take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities.

 

Qualifications: 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive accounting experience, including accounts payable and accounts receivable; experience in the construction or manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of account reconciliation processes and general ledger accounting.
  • Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and report financial data.
  • Experience working with multiple entities preferred.
  • Experience with the Epicor Kinetic accounting system is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research discrepancies and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a team environment.
