Job Summary: RLG Consulting Engineers is seeking to hire a licensed Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) to join the Survey Department. The RPLS will provide full-service surveying and mapping services for public and private clients, as well as supporting the Survey and Civil Engineering department.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Where applicable, directs and oversees junior or subordinate staff members regarding construction operations, and / or maintenance tasks and assignments at a project site.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
- Work alongside Survey Crews and Technicians to prepare documents and provide various survey and mapping services including but not limited to:
- Boundary/Land Title Survey (ALTA/NSPS and TSPS Category 1A, Condition II, III & IV and Category 1B, Condition II, III, & IV)
- Topographic & Improvement Survey
- Subdivision Platting
- Construction Staking
- GPS Control
- Condominium Survey
- Easement Preparation
- Tree Location and Identification Survey
- Right-of-Way Delineation
- Must be familiar and knowledgeable with:
- Global Position Systems (GPS)
- Robotic Total Stations
- General tools for Land Surveying
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to review deeds, easements, and plats for boundary analysis
- Thorough understanding of land surveying principles, practices, and tools
- Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD), specifically Civil 3D, and other design, data recording and analyzation software
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (metes & bounds descriptions, emails, letters, etc.).
- Ability to be both creative and analytical
- Extremely detail oriented and accurate
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or equal, is a plus, but not necessary (dependent on experience).
- 2 plus years of experience as an RPLS, LSLS in the State of Texas
- 5 plus years of experience as an PLS in the United States
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to travel to various project sites, meetings, etc.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
- Must be able to routinely lift 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
