The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our national People, Safety & Culture team at Ritchies.

This is an opportunity to become part of a collaborative and supportive HR team that prides itself on being approachable, practical, and trusted business partners. Reporting to the Director of People, Safety & Culture, you'll provide expert HR advice and support across our nationwide operations, helping leaders build high-performing teams and deliver great outcomes for our people.

No two days are the same. You'll partner with depot managers, support employee lifecycle activities, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and play a key role in ensuring best-practice people management across the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing day-to-day HR advice and support to leaders across New Zealand
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and offboarding activities
  • Assisting with employee relations matters and ensuring fair, consistent HR processes
  • Developing and improving HR policies, processes and documentation
  • Reviewing HR metrics and reporting to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Supporting organisational projects and business-as-usual HR initiatives
  • Promoting a positive workplace culture aligned with our values
  • Championing safe and healthy work practices across the organisation

About you

You're a confident and proactive HR professional who enjoys building relationships and working with a diverse range of people.

You'll bring a practical approach, sound judgement, and the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You understand the importance of confidentiality and are committed to providing high-quality support and advice.

You'll also have:

  • At least 3 years' experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment relations and HR best practice
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working with HR systems and technology
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach
  • An appreciation for health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
