Retail Supervisor
About this role
Job Summary/Essential Functions:
The Retail Department Supervisor is responsible for assisting the management team in maintaining a clean and well-merchandised Gift Shop.
Specific physical responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Maintain proper customer service as set by the Retail Manager.
- Properly maintain floor merchandising standards as set by the Retail Manager. All displays and fixtures must be kept properly filled and shoppable throughout the shift.
- Direct all personnel working on the shift to be an active part of the gift shop team, ensuring that the entire team is actively working towards maintaining customer service and floor merchandising standards.
- Maintain a positive work attitude and be ready to help in other areas as needed.
- Encourage the same attitude and ability from all Gift Shop personnel. Maintain proper opening and closing procedures as set by the Retail Manager.
- Assist in training all Gift Shop personnel, including seasonal help, in a basic knowledge of the attraction so that they can provide assistance and information to our guests as needed.
- Assist in training Gift Shop personnel on the POS system and properly and accurately handle all sales transactions in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Ensure that all Gift Shop personnel arrive for work in a timely manner.
- When acting as the opening supervisor, create a daily written schedule informing each Gift Shop employee of their duties for the day. Follow to be sure that each employee is carrying out their duties.
- Maintain an excellent work environment by example, always treating Gift Shop employees in an honest, friendly and fair manner.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards as set by the Retail Manager.
- Assist the Retail Manager in properly handling transfers and damages.
- Follow through to timely completion all special projects requested by management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with POS systems
- Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures is required
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand for periods of up to 8 hours Able to bend, stoop, push, pull and lift without restriction
- Able to perform specific job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
