Opportunity Overview
Rhythm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director, Program Management to join its program management team, reporting to the Head of Program Management. In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner and operational lead for one or multiple programs in different stages of development. You will be responsible for driving program strategy forward, developing and maintaining an integrated development plan, and holding program teams accountable for program execution.  In addition, this role will have responsibility for cross-functional project management activities, serving as project management lead for operational excellence and continuous improvement defined projects. In this role, you will communicate and interface across all levels including executive leadership. 

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead cross-functional execution of program strategy and operations to move one or more asset programs through the drug development lifecycle
  • Lead/Facilitate program core team meetings, develop agendas & communicate/track action items to completion
  • Develop and maintain integrated development plans, project timelines, risk logs, and integrated program budgets
  • Lead program core team/subteams in risk identification and mitigation, scenario planning, decision criteria, and milestone stage gates ensuring teams stay on track
  • Work with functional-area program leads to prioritize activities on critical path
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate program-wide interdependencies, issues, and key decisions to sr. leadership and appropriate forums
  • Serve as thought partner to head of program mgmt. through defining strategy, process, best practices and standardization
  • Ensure that cross-functional stakeholders and leaders are informed by clearly communicating updates within the program team and with leadership
  • Monitor potential budget, timeline and strategy variances; proactively bring forward with functions; assess options for tradeoffs within overall budget, timeline, and strategy
  • Coordinate development of impactful presentations to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making as well as preparing program status updates for Quarterly Portfolio Review meetings
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of corporate and functional objectives
  • Actively contribute to, oversee or lead the development of processes, tools, and standards necessary to establish program management best practices; Drive continuous process improvement initiatives across functional areas of Rhythm.

Qualifications and Skills
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required
  • 10+ years of experience in pharma/biotech drug development with 5 years experience preferred in project/program management
  • Experience within clinical development/Phase 1 through regulatory submission strongly preferred
  • Passion and excitement for driving research forward toward a goal of helping patients with rare, unmet medical needs
  • Experience in rare disease indications preferred, but not required
  • Experience in both early and late phase development preferred including simultaneous oversight of multiple projects 
  • Ability to drive strategic thinking and collaborate across multiple functions (Research, Development, Manufacturing, and Commercial)
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical development, including regulatory approval pathways in US, Europe, ROW (IND, NDA, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of the essential activities for all key functional areas across cross-functional program teams
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills and ability to execute while dealing with competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); Familiarity with Smartsheet or MS Project preferred

This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involve some travel.

The expected salary range for this position is $182,000 - $275,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance. This role may be eligible for benefits and other compensation such as restricted stock units.
