Electronics Engineer
About this role
At Reshape we are trying to make biotech engineerable through better and faster data collection and analysis. Our goal is to redefine biotechnology research for the future. We believe that biology holds the key to a sustainable future. We want to provide the most innovative companies with the tools to decode nature in order to address some of humanity’s biggest challenges - from revolutionizing alternative protein production to pioneering sustainable agriculture practices.
ELECTRONICS ENGINEER - HARDWARE ENGINEERING
As an Electronics Engineer on our Hardware Engineering team, you will collaborate with engineers across disciplines to turn ambitious goals into reality. You will own the entire embedded electronics development lifecycle - including design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support.
You are the engineer that other engineers can count on; attacking every problem with enthusiasm; removing hurdles. You works with a high degree of autonomy, diving into unfamiliar problems with curiosity, and surface issues early. Importantly, you can balance time-to-market with minimizing technical debt.
No experience in robotics or biotech? No problem - as long as you are curious. We are looking for ambitious and motivated engineers who love solving tough problems and want to make an impact in an inspiring, fast-paced environment.
Our team is small and moves incredibly quickly, which means high ownership from day one: you'll have real responsibility, real freedom in how you work, and teammates who rely on you to deliver. We keep process lightweight and iteration cycles short, and we give ambitious engineers the space and tools to do the best work of their careers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field; Or 2+ years of professional experience in electronics development in lieu of a degree.
- Proficiency in EDA tools (e.g. KiCad, Altium).
- Proficiency in embedded systems programming (e.g. C, C++, Rust).
- Proficiency in high-level programming languages (e.g. Python).
- Experience in electronics development for robotics, electromechanical or embedded software systems.
- Strong experience hardware hacking / as a maker, getting hands-on and DIY attitude (e.g. soldering, 3D printing, building electronics prototypes etc.)
- Strong knowledge of microcontroller development.
- Experience in communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, TCP).
- Experience in hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and similar tools.
- Experience in Single-Board Computers and embedded Linux.
- Experience in software development, including design practices and architecture. We use C++, C and Python, and experience with these or similar language(s) is expected.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with system diagnostics, logging, and error handling.
- Developing and iterating on electronics and firmware designs for our hardware products.
- Designing and documenting new electronic systems, including schematic design and PCB layout.
- Building, testing, and maintaining highly reliable systems: optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability for production environments.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues to minimize downtime, and driving continuous improvement by identifying shortcomings and implementing robust fixes.
- Work closely with hardware engineering peers to ensure seamless integration between mechanical, electronic, firmware and software components.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to identify and address system requirements.
