The Company:

Recorra is a leading circular economy company, providing services for recycling, data destruction and office supplies in London and the South East. We are born environmentalists, formed by Friends of the Earth in 1988 and now operating as an independent commercial organisation.

We are an ethical and fast-growing company with a team of exceptional people and are looking for someone to join us during an exciting period of change and growth. The role provides the opportunity for you to use your skills to make a difference within a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking company. The culture is energetic, and there will be many opportunities for you to make a substantial contribution to the business.

The Role:

At Recorra, our drivers play a vital role in delivering reliable, high-quality waste and recycling services to our customers every day. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Fleet Safety & Compliance Trainer to help shape, support, and develop our driver workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured induction training for new drivers and driver’s mates

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching and support to drivers across the business

  • Conduct driver assessments (pre-employment and ongoing competency)

  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and delivering follow-up training

  • Carry out on-road supervision and site-based checks to ensure compliance with company standards

  • Complete gate checks, audits and paperwork reviews

  • Deliver manual handling training and regular toolbox talks

  • Carry out customer site visits to review working practices and support operational improvements

  • Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to maintain and improve safety standards

  • Develop and maintain training materials and guidance for drivers

  • Supporting vehicle movements and minor operational tasks where required

  • Providing route cover during peak periods or absence

About You:

  • Valid Class 2/C (LGV) licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card

  • Proven experience as an LGV Driver Trainer or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Driver hours, tachographs and Working Time Directive

    • DVSA standards and driver safety best practice

  • Experience delivering structured training, inductions and assessments

  • Good understanding of the waste industry, including RCV, skip and RORO vehicles

  • Confident communicator with the ability to coach, influence and support drivers at all levels

  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload effectively

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and maintaining training records

Benefits:

  • 22 days' annual leave (additional days for length of service) plus bank holidays

  • Employee pension scheme

  • Travel season ticket loan

  • Cycle to work scheme
