About the role

As an R&D Associate, you will play a key role in delivering product development projects across the Durex R&D portfolio. You will lead end-to-end (E2E) projects from concept through to market launch, or take ownership of a specific workstream within larger, more complex technical projects, depending on business needs. Your work will contribute directly to the development of innovative, consumer-preferred products and support their successful transition into full-scale production and commercial launch.

This role requires the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary project team. You will be responsible for balancing project opportunities, costs, timelines, and technical constraints to deliver high-quality outcomes. Strong organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to take ownership of key project deliverables and drive progress in a dynamic environment.

The role may also involve coaching or line management responsibilities for R&D Assistants or junior R&D Associates. Success in this position requires both theoretical and practical expertise in relevant Durex technologies, such as formulation and process development, as well as a solid understanding of applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

Your responsibilities

Quality :

  • Be aware, accountable and follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) rules & regulations.
  • Enforce quality mind & awareness for working in area by following documented procedures & follow good documentation practice.
  • Be compliance to requirements of ISO13485 and other relevant regulatory requirements as required based on role & function responsibility.
  • Always think “Quality is my responsibility”. HR/JD/01 Version 6.0

Safety, Health & Environment :

  • Be aware, accountable for safety, health and environment in workplace all time to ensure free accident and good environment area of working.
  • Follow which support the safety, health and environment regulations, company policies by working safely, reporting unsafe condition / unsafe action / near miss accident to supervisor as well as suggest for any improvement.
  • Be compliance to requirements of ISO14001, ISO45001, other relevant EHS regulatory and company EHS requirements as required based on role & function responsibility.
  • Always think "Safety, Health and Environmental is my responsibility".

General :

  • Ensure all technical aspects of the product development are carried out as per the agreed timings, with any issues or risks clearly highlighted to line manager in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with the cross functional internal and external team to ensure technical milestones are met
  • Coordination of factory line trials, subsequent R&D qualification testing and validation prior to launch
  • Ensure all relevant product specifications and internal documentation is in place and fully approved prior to full production start-up
  • May involvement line management of one or more Assistants or Associates– if applicable ensure they are effectively managed and encouraged in their personal development
  • To be consumer minded and have an understanding of behaviour across the different regions and translate this learning into product design and development
  • Balance formulation and product performance robustness and challenging cost targets
  • Development of robust evaluation methodologies leading to sustainable and consumer-relevant claims
  • Support idea/concept generation where appropriate.
  • Ensure all IP considerations are fully taken into account during the product development process.
  • Responsible for the compilation, approval and circulation of technical reports throughout the product development process.
  • All assigned development activity must conform to legislative, health & safety and environmental requirements. 

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Chemical Engineering, Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical sciences, Cosmetic formulation.
  • Relevant experience at least 3 years with product development within FMCG or Chemical environment. Medical device experience is an advantage.
  • Competencies Required (knowledge, skill, training) Good communication skills, especially English Excellent presentation skills

  • Pilot plant, scale-up, or industrialization experience is advantageous.

  • Naturally curious, with a desire to explore new ideas, technologies, and opportunities to drive product innovation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while consistently delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines.
