Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Liaison

Nowra Private Hospital has been providing quality health care services to the Shoalhaven region and south coast of New South Wales since being commissioned in 1980.

Our 62-bed facility provides acute surgical and medical services, rehabilitation, and day surgery services. We are located 130km south of Sydney and 10km from the beaches for which the south coast is renowned.

Nowra Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as an Emergency Department (ED) Liaison on a fixed-term, part-time basis.

The ED Liaison Nurse will act as a key clinical interface between the Emergency Department and Nowra Private Hospital, supporting:

• Effective communication between ED clinicians, bed management, VMOs, and inpatient teams
• Liaise directly with Emergency Department teams regarding potential admissions or transfers
• Coordinate with bed management, Nurse Unit Managers, VMOs, and executive teams
• Facilitate timely and accurate exchange of clinical information and documentation
• Timely identification of suitable patients for transfer or admission
• Support escalation and problem-solving in complex or time-critical situations
• Contribute to data collection, reporting, and continuous improvement of the service
• Improved patient experience and system flow

About You

Your ability to have strong clinical judgement, advanced communication skills, and to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries will ensure your success in this role.

You will also bring the following:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
• Minimum 24 months recent experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Acute Medical/Surgical nursing
• Demonstrated high-level clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
• Strong understanding of patient flow, escalation, and admission processes
• Previous ED, critical care, or liaison-style role experience (Desirable)
• Knowledge of both public and private hospital systems (Desirable)
• Experience working with bed management and medical governance processes (Desirable)
