What you will do:

The Rebar Cage Assembler is responsible for assembling, tying, positioning, and preparing reinforcing steel cages and related rebar components according to customer specifications, shop drawings, and production requirements. This role supports the fabrication of concrete reinforcing structures by accurately positioning and securing rebar while maintaining established safety, quality, and production standards.The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, physically capable of handling heavy materials, and comfortable performing repetitive hands-on work in a fast-paced production environment. Strong mathematical aptitude, teamwork, and attention to detail are important for success in this role.

 

Rebar Cage Assembly

  • Build and assemble reinforcing steel cages using various sizes and configurations of rebar according to customer and production requirements
  • Tie, position, secure, and assemble rebar components to create completed reinforcing structures
  • Follow shop drawings, work orders, specifications, and production instructions to ensure accurate cage assembly
  • Measure and verify rebar placement, spacing, dimensions, and configuration throughout the assembly process
  • Ensure completed assemblies meet customer specifications and company quality standards
  • Assist with placement and movement of completed rebar cages as required
  • Support daily production goals while maintaining accuracy and workmanship

Production & Material Handling

  • Retrieve, stage, organize, and position rebar and other materials required for assigned production work
  • Safely lift, carry, move, and position reinforcing steel and related materials
  • Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of materials throughout the production area
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, or other material-handling equipment when trained, certified, and authorized
  • Maintain efficient material flow throughout assigned work areas
  • Identify damaged, incorrect, or nonconforming materials and report concerns promptly

Drawings, Measurements & Quality

  • Read and follow shop drawings, blueprints, work orders, and customer specifications as required
  • Apply basic mathematical concepts when measuring and assembling reinforcing components
  • Verify dimensions and completed work before products move to the next stage of production
  • Identify assembly discrepancies and communicate concerns to the appropriate Lead or Supervisor
  • Support quality-control processes designed to minimize rework, material waste, and customer issues
  • Maintain strong attention to detail throughout the assembly process

Tools & Equipment

  • Safely use hand tools, rebar-tying tools, measuring devices, and other approved production equipment
  • Inspect assigned tools and equipment before use
  • Maintain tools and equipment in clean and serviceable condition
  • Report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment promptly
  • Follow established operating procedures for all machinery and material-handling equipment

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
  • Follow proper lifting and material-handling procedures when working with reinforcing steel
  • Remain aware of forklifts, cranes, suspended loads, machinery, and other production hazards
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, injuries, equipment concerns, or near misses
  • Participate in required safety meetings and training
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing, production, construction, reinforcing steel, or fabrication experience preferred but not required
  • Experience tying or assembling rebar is a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints or shop drawings is preferred
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances is a plus
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience is preferred
  • Experience using hand tools and production equipment is a plus

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Work is performed primarily in a production, fabrication, or industrial environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the work shift
  • Ability to frequently bend, stretch, reach, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive physical tasks
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and position materials weighing up to 80 pounds, using team lifting or mechanical assistance when appropriate
  • Frequent handling of reinforcing steel and other heavy or awkward materials
  • Exposure to production equipment, forklifts, cranes, steel materials, noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to wear required PPE throughout the workday
  • Overtime or occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs
