Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs thermal solutions both heating and temperature sensing applications for both gas and/or liquid delivery systems, using Cad software to execute designs.
  • Possess some (engineer to engineer) product\project development experience; along with, the ability to provide presentations to sales/operations staff when required.
  • Ability to research and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application
  • Responsible to work with internal UCT account managers and operations staff to complete design requirements to customers’ specifications
  • Coordinates with UCT Thermal manufacturing assisting in the fabrication, test, and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Participate in design review meetings with internal staff and to follow the NPI process via MS Teams in PST.
  • Potentially participate in customer presentations with sales/operations staff

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth ability to read, analyse, and translate customer drawings, 3D models, technical specifications, and stringent quality requirements.
  • Strong capability to convert technical and functional requirements into robust, repeatable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Creation, release, and maintenance of complete and accurate production documentation, including detailed drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks and structured, standards-based engineering documentation.
  • Execution of cost modelling and simulations, including BOM costing, routings, cycle-time estimation, and Make/Buy analyses.
  • Active involvement in quotations, cost optimization initiatives, and Design for Cost (DfC) activities.
  • Leadership and ownership of ECO / ECN processes, including engineering data control within PLM / ERP systems (SAP).
  • Ongoing, hands-on collaboration with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and external suppliers.
  • Experience with special manufacturing processes such as precision machining, chemical processes, welding, electropolishing, etc. – strong advantage.
  • Experience with high-precision measurement and inspection solutions (CMM, mechanical and optical metrology) – strong advantage.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to strict engineering and quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to make independent engineering decisions and take full ownership.
  • Proven capability to work across multiple interfaces and manage technical aspects with suppliers.
  • High-level technical English, both written and verbal.
  • The role requires occasional international travel for training purposes and on-site work at global manufacturing facilities.

 

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering – mandatory.

 

Experience Requirement:

 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of proven experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with strong preference for Semiconductor and high-precision metal industries.
  • Extensive experience leading Build-to-Print projects, including end-to-end engineering ownership and close production support.
  • Proven experience in the design and optimization of jigs, fixtures, and tooling for high-precision manufacturing and inspection processes.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced environment 2-4 week (design cycles)

Physical Demands:

  • Work may require the ability to lift 10-20 pounds infrequently
  • Ability to attend MS Teams meetings and use a computer for extended periods of time will be required. Attend meetings in PST

Environmental Exposure:

  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from manufacturing process equipment.
  • May have exposure to silicones, fiberglass and epoxies used in the fabrication of thermal products.

Overnight Travel:

  • Work could require out of town travel depending upon assignment for (training and meeting).
  • Training to include 2-3 months of extensive US Hayward including but not limited to: Fabrication, designing and testing of Thermal Products.
