Special Education Teacher
About this role
This position requires you to work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum between the ages of 5-22 years old
Salary Range is $65,000 - $90,000 annually - Commensurate with level of certification, education, experience and ABA credentials (if applicable).
Location of position is in Whitestone, NY
Job Summary
QSAC Special Education Teachers require NY State certification (Students with Disabilities/1-6, 7-12). Teaching responsibilities include implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP), classroom management, participation in annual meetings, and completion of required reports. Extensive training and support are provided with opportunities for professional growth and development.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of educational programs and behavior interventions.
- Implement and adhere to IFSP/IEP/Student Program.
- Prepare for and attend all pertinent pre IEP and IEP conferences
- Administer curriculum-based and standardized assessments
- Differentiate learning based on the needs of individual students and IEP goals
- When required, implement behavior management plans and relevant data collection procedures. Supervise Teaching Assistants/Aides in the implementation of educational programs and behavior intervention plans
- Ensure health, safety & welfare of QSAC students
- Meet with parents to provide overview of student progress
Work Experience & Qualifications
- NYS Certified Special Education Teacher (Internship Certificate a minimum)
- Experience with ASD and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies preferred
