Survey Crew Member
About this role
General Summary: This position is responsible for construction surveying activities. They will operate surveying equipment, collect accurate field data, assist with instrument setup and measurements, and help ensure survey projects are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Party Chief with daily survey crew activities and field operations.
- Set up, operate, and maintain total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, levels, data collectors, and other surveying instruments.
- Assist with boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction, and as-built surveys.
- Perform field measurements and accurately record survey data.
- Locate and identify property corners, monuments, utilities, structures, and other physical features.
- Assist with construction staking, including points, lines, grades, offsets, and elevations.
- Hold rods, prisms, and other survey equipment as directed by the Party Chief.
- Perform clearing and preparation of survey lines and work areas as needed.
- Maintain and organize survey equipment, tools, stakes, nails, hubs, lath, and other field supplies.
- Load, transport, and unload surveying equipment and materials.
- Communicate clearly with the Party Chief and other crew members regarding field conditions and measurements.
- Assist with checking measurements and identifying potential errors or discrepancies.
- Perform other field surveying duties as assigned.

Educations/Experience:
Minimum of 3 years industrial survey experience. Understand and communicate in English. Maintain active driver's license.

Environment: Regular work schedules; frequent overtime will be required to complete projects or specialized training. Overnight travel up to 85%. Works outside in extreme heat and cold. Wears site-required PPE.
Physical: This position is defined as Heavy. Work involves exerting 50 pounds of force frequently using body, hands, fingers, arms, legs, or feet to complete work. Walking, standing, bending, kneeling and lifting to a significant degree. Rarely sitting.
Other: This position requires reliable transportation, steel toed boots, and passing DOT drug and alcohol test.
