About the role
You will be responsible for following instructions from team leaders / supervisors in regards to arrival / departure flights and adhere to the standard operating and safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure to achieve the targeted baggage key performance indicators along with the team.
- Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times during the shift.
- Check the allocation from shift supervisor and report to concern Baggage team leader at the respective area.
- Assist the Baggage Team Leader / Baggage Supervisor in carrying out a foreign object debris (FOD) check prior to loading and after unloading units.
- Assist the Baggage Team Leader / Baggage Supervisor in Organizing the Equipment’s and units for Loading.
- Assist the Baggage Team Leader / Baggage Supervisor to carry out a check of the inbound and outbound units for serviceability and alert him/her in case of discrepancies.
- Use the knowledge of Bag scan system to determine the number of loaded bags and missing bags and give the updated information to the Baggage Team Leader / Baggage Supervisor.
- Assist the Baggage Team Leader / Baggage Supervisor in leading the team of loaders to unload and/or load units in compliance with the SOP.
- The role will be to assign Baggage units for departure flights after checking their serviceability. Using handheld scanners while loading bags into Baggage units and using knowledge of Bag san system to determine the number of loaded bags and missing bags and give the updated information to the BTL and Supervisor.
- Follow the proper baggage segregation process as informed by Baggage team leader.
- Ensure all business / first class and special load baggage are loaded as per airline requirement.
- In the case of any discrepancy, report immediately to Baggage team leader / Baggage supervisor.
- Track all terminating baggage at Reclaim belt and report discrepancy if any.
- Ensure crew’s baggage are received well on time at the Crew Terminal from check in counters and are being loaded and dispatched as per schedule time of departure to the correct bay.
- Report any safety / security related issues immediately to shift supervisor.
- Ensure oversize baggage are 100%25 tracked through baggage scanners and assist in delivering baggage on time to the concern make up carousels.
- In the event of system outage or any disruptions, follow the instructions from Baggage team leader / Supervisor.
- Depending on the location the Lead Assistant has to follow the published procedures, under the direction of the Baggage team leader and the Section Supervisor.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
Additional Information (limited to Fixed-term Contract only)
- Contract Type: Fixed-term contract – 3 years
- Job Type: Shift-based work. Working hours are 48 hours per week and paid overtime if required

About you
- An ideal candidate will have a minimum of Basic literacy, Numeracy skills, English communication skills and 2 years of job-related experience or High School Qualification (e.g. O level, Year 10, min compulsory education) and no prior job-related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret LDM/CPM messages.
- Practical knowledge of using handheld scanner and familiarity of Bag scan Console.
- Familiarity of Ramp safety and Dangerous Goods Handling.
- Knowledge to identify unserviceable containers from serviceable containers.
- Familiarity of flights operating through Doha by flight numbers and three letter codes.
Preferred
- At least 1 year experience in all areas of airport operations
- At least 6 months experience working at the Baggage areas
- Practical knowledge of using Hand-Held scanner and familiarity of Bag scan console
- Familiar with the QR GOM and SOP’s of the company related to Baggage handling
