Based in Swan Valley, Northampton, close to the town centre and major bus routes, HybrIT Services is a fast-growing Systems Integrator and Managed Service Provider. We deliver high-quality IT solutions and support to customers across a wide range of industries, including financial services, the public sector, legal services and national retail.

We're looking for an enthusiastic IT Service Desk Apprentice to join our managed services team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience, develop your foundational technical skills and learn from experienced IT professionals while working towards your apprenticeship qualification.

You don't need to know anything about IT already. We're looking for someone with natural problem solving skills, a positive attitude, and the enthusiasm to learn. About the role:

As an IT Service Desk Apprentice, you'll be part of the team providing frontline IT support to the HybrIT customer base.

You'll develop your technical and customer service skills while gaining experience across a variety of technologies and environments. Your day-to-day work will be varied, with opportunities to get involved in customer projects as well as supporting users with their everyday IT needs.

What you'll learn and do:

  • Provide frontline IT support, progressing towards supporting issues up to 2nd line

  • Help users resolve technical issues and provide a first-time fix wherever possible

  • Log and manage incidents and service requests using the company IT Service Management (ITSM) system

  • Provide support to customers by telephone, email and through customer portals

  • Develop your understanding and administration of Microsoft 365 (M365), operating systems and server-based applications

  • Build basic networking and systems administration skills

  • Deliver proactive preventative maintenance to customer systems such as system configuration and patching.

  • Learn how to communicate professionally with customers and provide excellent customer service

  • Assist with IT projects, including device builds, IT moves and installations

  • Gain hands-on experience with desktop installations, IT cabling and server/datacentre environments

  • Work alongside experienced IT professionals and develop your knowledge of new and emerging technologies

What we're looking for:

You don't need extensive IT experience. We're looking for someone who is curious, reliable and keen to learn.

You should have:

  • A general interest in IT, computers and technology

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • The ability to work well as part of a team

  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Good organisation and time-management skills

  • A positive approach to work and a strong work ethic

  • An interest in developing your skills as technology continues to evolve

Desirable skills:

It would be useful, but not essential, if you have:

  • Basic knowledge of Windows 11

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills

  • An understanding of computer hardware and components

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours: 35 hours per week. Travel to customer locations could be required as part of ongoing development
