We are looking for a Manager or Senior Manager to join our market-leading Indirect Tax team within Tax and Legal Services in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.
Our Indirect Tax team is passionate about helping clients navigate complex GST and Customs issues while unlocking value through practical, commercial solutions. We work across a broad range of industries, supporting clients with cross-border transactions, property acquisitions and developments, financial transactions, business sales and restructures, GST compliance, risk management, and tax governance.
As a Manager or Senior Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality GST advisory and compliance services, leading client engagements, and developing trusted relationships with clients and colleagues. You’ll work alongside experienced indirect tax specialists locally and across the PwC global network, helping clients solve complex challenges while building your own technical and leadership capabilities.
Your role responsibilities will include:
- Leading GST advisory engagements and providing practical, commercially focused advice to clients.
- Researching and applying tax legislation to complex GST issues and preparing high-quality written and verbal advice.
- Managing GST compliance and review assignments, including oversight of GST return preparation and review processes.
- Helping clients identify, assess, and manage indirect tax risks through reviews, controls assessments and data analytics solutions.
- Building strong client relationships by understanding client objectives and delivering tailored solutions.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members, fostering their technical development and career growth.
- Collaborating with specialists across PwC’s Tax, Deals, Assurance and Consulting businesses to provide integrated client solutions.
- Contributing to business development initiatives, thought leadership and market engagement activities that strengthen PwC’s presence in the indirect tax market.

Significant experience in indirect tax, including technical GST/VAT advisory work, gained either in New Zealand or internationally.
Experience within a Big Four, professional services, advisory, legal, or corporate tax environment.
Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality outcomes across multiple engagements.
Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and practically.
Experience leading projects, managing stakeholders, and supporting junior team development.
Degree qualified, with a relevant professional qualification (or working towards one) such as CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent.
A legal background would be advantageous but is not essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
