Senior Planner, Wholesale & DTC

New York City · On-site$110k – $130k

About this role

Since our inception in 2017, PURPLE has been on a mission to redefine denim culture. Blending industrial design, streetwear, and luxury fashion, we've curated a collection of men’s denim and luxury basics that transcend trends. At PURPLE, we take pride in challenging conventions through design that is grounded in a contemporary spirit and timeless quality.

We are a team of creative, collaborative, and highly dynamic people who love what we do, and we strongly believe that our diverse team of motivated individuals makes our company strong and successful.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll own financial and inventory planning across Wholesale and DTC, turning company targets into merchandise plans and driving how inventory gets deployed across the business. This is a build role: you'll establish the planning function and partner daily with Finance, Merchandising, Sales, and channel leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • The 12-month sales, margin, and inventory plan — top-down targets reconciled against bottom-up forecasts, with monthly and weekly reforecasts against trend
  • Seasonal OTB across both channels, managing WOS, turn, ATS, and receipt flow against investment targets
  • Seasonal planning with Merchandising — investment levels, assortment architecture, SKU depth and breadth — plus post-season hindsight on sell-through, margin, and forecast accuracy
  • Translating demand signals and in-season performance from Wholesale and DTC leaders into inventory plans, allocation, and replenishment
  • Early calls on inventory risk — excess, aged, shortages, sell-off — and the actions that resolve them
  • Variance analysis and gross margin adjustments (transfers, RTVs, shrink, promotions, discounts), with clear risks, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in merchandise or financial planning at a fashion or apparel brand, with both wholesale and DTC exposure
  • Fluent in retail math, forecasting, OTB, WOS, and turn
  • Advanced Excel; hands-on with NetSuite, Shopify, SkyPad, and Power BI
  • Turns analysis into a recommendation someone can act on
  • Comfortable building process from scratch and moving between the plan on a page and the SKU underneath it

Benefits:

  • Paid Time Off (vacation and sick days).
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Amazing employee discount.
  • Benefits: The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, basic life insurance, disability insurance and paid family leave.

Company at a glance

Purple set out to solve a personal problem: men’s denim at the contemporary price point is simultaneously too simple and too complicated. Walk into the denim section of a high-end department store or boutique and you’ll find overwhelming walls of jeans with different fits and near-identical medium and light blue washes. Innovation in fit, hardware and washes generally happens at the designer level, with high price points.

Innovation shouldn’t be limited to designer denim, we thought. So we spent several years traveling the world to find the right production partners that allow us to create an accessible product with top-quality hardware, designer fits and innovative details.

In our time in the menswear industry, countless trends and movements have come and gone. But one thing has largely stayed the same: denim is the anchor of the modern man’s wardrobe. PURPLE is dedicated to making that anchor more interesting.
