Responsibilities

  • Perform general repair and maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, grounds keeping, moving, and housekeeping for commercial units.
  • Drive PRF truck daily to various locations to perform maintenance tasks.
Additional Responsibilities
  • HVAC
    • Maintain and repair heating and cooling systems.
    • Troubleshoot and test components using proper equipment.
    • Replace worn and defective parts using proper hand and power tools.
  • Plumbing
    • Make minor plumbing repairs (i.e., fixing leaks, installing and re-setting fixtures, cleaning drains and general plumbing maintenance).
  • Electrical
    • Serve as an electrician for maintenance and repair of electrical wiring. This will include replacement of fixtures, switches, receptacles, circuit breakers, installation of electrical fixtures of circuits. General electrical troubleshooting.
  • Carpentry
    • Serve as a principle carpenter for the purpose of maintaining, remodeling PRF properties as requested and directed by the Supervisor. This carpentry function may include such items as repairing and/or replacing glass in windows, removing and installing kitchen cabinets, removing and replacing door locks, remodeling and redecorating of rooms.
  • Painting
    • Responsible for painting both interior and exterior of units. This function includes the preparation of the surface prior to painting. Refinishing and varnishing of floors would also be included.
  • Grounds keeping
    • Assist with removal of snow from public sidewalk areas for properties as directed by supervisor. Trimming and pruning of shrubs and small bushes.
  • Housekeeping Duties
    • This function would include washing windows, cleaning floors and/or sweeping carpet and cleaning of entire unit.
  • City Inspections
    • Upon the request of the Supervisor, this position will accompany the West Lafayette City Inspector as inspections are performed on PRF houses and apartments.
  • General Labor
    • Move PRF-owned furniture and appliances from one property to another to meet the needs of current or future tenants as directed by Supervisor.
  • Other duties of similar of related nature may be assigned by Supervisor to be performed as necessary.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Must be a dependable, responsible team player.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Task-oriented and able to work without close supervision.
  • EPA certification required.
  • HVAC experience required.
  • HVAC certification preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Ability to work with chemicals, electrical, gases and machinery with moving parts.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Favorable background check and negative controlled substance test required.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability by Purdue carriers required.
  • Overtime required.
  • Periodic on-call hours.


Required Education, Experience and Benefits Summary

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in repair and maintenance required.
