About this role

The Opportunity

Providence Cristo Rey High School is seeking a dependable, positive Food Service Worker to support opening operations, breakfast production, and breakfast service in our scratch kitchen. Working with the Kitchen Manager and food service team, you will help prepare and serve fresh, nutritionally compliant meals while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.

What You Will Do

  • Open and prepare the kitchen and breakfast service areas for the day.
  • Prepare breakfast items using standardized recipes, production plans, portion requirements, and food-safety procedures.
  • Set up, serve, and replenish breakfast while greeting students and team members with a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Complete basic food-preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, portioning, labeling, and checking ingredient freshness.
  • Maintain clean and organized food-preparation, service, storage, and dish areas; properly handle trash, recycling, and compost.
  • Follow Health Department, USDA, sanitation, chemical-storage, and required training standards at all times.
  • Communicate supply, equipment, quality, or safety concerns promptly and assist with other cafeteria needs as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work the scheduled early-morning shift.
  • Able to follow recipes and instructions, manage time, and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Committed to cleanliness, consistency, safety, and positive interactions with students and coworkers.
  • Able to stand for extended periods, perform physical kitchen tasks, and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Food service, school cafeteria, or scratch-kitchen experience and ServSafe or IDOE food-safety training are preferred; a high school diploma is preferred.
