The Opportunity

Providence Cristo Rey High School is seeking a reliable Dishwasher / Prep Staff team member to lead dishwashing flow, assist with food preparation, support lunch service, and help close the kitchen. This role is essential to keeping our scratch kitchen clean, safe, organized, and ready to serve students and staff each day.


What You Will Do

  • Wash, sanitize, dry, and properly store dishes, utensils, trays, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor dishwashing workflow during lunch so clean items remain available and service runs efficiently.
  • Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, chopping, portioning, labeling, and storing ingredients.
  • Support lunch setup, service, breakdown, and daily operational needs as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Complete closing cleaning and sanitation tasks in the kitchen, dish room, service, and storage areas.
  • Safely use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment; remove trash, recycling, and compost according to procedures.
  • Report equipment problems, supply needs, or safety concerns promptly and assist with other cafeteria duties as assigned.


What You Bring

  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work the scheduled afternoon shift.
  • Able to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and keep pace in a busy, team-oriented kitchen.
  • Committed to cleanliness, safety, consistent quality, and respectful interactions with students and coworkers.
  • Able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive and physical kitchen tasks, and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Dishwashing, food-preparation, food-service, or school cafeteria experience is preferred; basic food-safety knowledge and a high school diploma are preferred.
