Job Description

The Category Management Director is the lead Category Advisor for a respective Category and is responsible for delivering Category Sales & Market Share Growth for Walmart. The Category Management Director leverages category expertise, compelling story telling skills and superior analytics & insights to establish themselves as the trusted resource for the Walmart Senior Merchant. In this role, you will own the relationship with the Walmart Senior Merchant and be responsible for strategy development, assortment/shelving recommendations, & delivering the Walmart Physical & Digital Shelf with excellence.

Key Responsibilities Included:

  • Deliver Thought Leadership & Category Expertise to Walmart Merchant Team

  • Partner with Walmart to clearly define OMNI Category Strategies that deliver Sales & Market Share Growth

  • Provide actionable reporting, insights, and marketplace analysis across the Category to influence decisions and strategies to grow the category

  • Lead the Walmart Modular Process and execute with excellence

  • Determine, Develop and Execute Breakthrough Physical & Digital shelf concepts

  • Collaborate with Internal Category Experts to deliver BIC Shelving & Assortment Recommendations across both the Physical & Digital Shopping Environment

  • Collaborate with Shopper Insights managers to Provide Best In Class Insights

  • Lead, manage and inspire a team

  • Proactively anticipate the business needs of the Walmart merchants, and provide insightful, thoughtful, data driven recommendations on growing the Walmart business

  • Proactively provide competitive updates & landscape assessments to Walmart Merchant Team

  • Develop future modular recommendations (1-2 years out) and sell-in and execute in-market tests

Location/Mobility:

  • This role is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and will require a move to Northwest Arkansas to work directly with Walmart.

  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to identify root causes- link strategies and objectives to develop compelling stories and recommended actions

  • Experience with Key Walmart Category Management Tools (i.e. ProSpace, Scintilla, PowerBI, Excel, Nielsen, etc.)
