Job Summary

The Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator for the Desert Pine BESS project will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy civil and mechanical equipment on-site, contributing to the successful construction and installation of battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role is non-driving, focusing solely on equipment operation within the project boundaries.

Job Responsibilities


Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, dozers, loaders, forklifts, telehandlers, and other specialized civil and mechanical construction equipment.
Perform daily pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues to supervision.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations on the job site.
Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact earth materials according to project plans and specifications.
Assist in the offloading, staging, and installation of BESS components, modules, and associated mechanical equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate equipment operation and material placement.
Collaborate effectively with other crew members, supervisors, and contractors to maintain project schedule and quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area around equipment.
* Participate in daily safety briefings and contribute to a positive safety culture.

Job Qualifications**

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy civil and/or mechanical construction equipment, specifically on industrial or utility-scale projects.
Proven ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment safely and proficiently.
Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and procedures.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grades, and survey stakes.
Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Experience with BESS or renewable energy projects is a plus.
