Position Summary

The Centralized Scheduler promptly answers phone calls from patients, schedules appointments, and verifies patient information, including demographics, insurance, and preferred provider.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduling and documentation accurately and consistently in an electronic medical record (Athena)
  • Verifiy and update patient’s demographic information by asking current phone, address, insurance, and emergency contact information 
  • Confirm patient’s PCP and ensure that continuity of care is maintained
  • Adhere to HIPPA and confidentiality requirements
  • Provide patients with accurate information, including appointment time, necessary arrival time, and any special requirements related to the visit
  • Complete reminder calls for appointments
  • Scheduling staff are expected to work a minimum of one (1) Saturday every four (4) weeks

 

Required Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure/Registration

  • Demonstrated computer knowledge required
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting and utilizing an electronic medical record strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Polish
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Salary

All wages are based on relevant years of experience.  The minimum rate is the wage that someone without scheduling or customer service experience will earn.
