Finance & Accounting Specialist (Part-Time)

About this role

We are looking for a Finance & Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our Ukraine entity.

This is a hands-on role responsible for day-to-day accounting, financial administration, statutory compliance, reporting, and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will operate as the primary finance point of contact in Ukraine, working closely with the UK Finance Team, external accounting providers, banks, and local suppliers.

The role is ideally suited to a finance professional who enjoys working independently, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and is comfortable operating in a dynamic international environment.

Financial Operations & Accounting
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Review, validate, and process invoices, prepayments, expense claims, and payment requests.
  • Prepare payment packages and supporting documentation for approval.
  • Verify accounting codes and ensure accurate allocation of costs.
  • Maintain and update accounting records within company financial systems.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain organised financial records and audit-ready documentation.
Budget Monitoring & Reporting
  • Support preparation and monitoring of operational budgets.
  • Track expenditure against approved budgets and identify variances.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare financial data and reports for management review.
  • Support cash flow planning and monitoring activities.
Statutory Compliance
  • Coordinate with external accounting and tax providers to ensure compliance with Ukrainian legislation.
  • Support preparation and submission of statutory reporting.
  • Ensure financial documentation complies with company policies and local regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Maintain awareness of local accounting and tax changes affecting the business.
Banking & Treasury
  • Manage day-to-day banking activities and payment administration.
  • Monitor account balances and payment schedules.
  • Support domestic and international transactions.
  • Coordinate with banking providers on operational matters.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Use financial management systems and business tools effectively, including Xero, Pleo, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Support implementation and improvement of financial processes and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and record keeping.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of finance procedures and documentation.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a liaison between the Ukraine entity and the UK Finance Team.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and service providers regarding financial documentation and payment matters.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial information and timely processing of transactions.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across functions and locations.
What We Are Looking ForEssential Criteria
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance administration, or a similar finance role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Experience processing invoices, payments, reconciliations, and financial records.
  • Professional fluency in both English and Ukrainian, written and spoken.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using accounting software (Xero, SAP, Oracle, Business Central, 1C, or similar).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
Desirable Criteria
  • Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within an international or multinational organisation.
  • Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting.
  • Experience working with multi-currency transactions.
  • Experience introducing or improving finance processes and controls.
  • ACCA, CIMA, DipIFR, CAP/CIPA or similar qualification (completed or in progress).
