Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Preble Street - PORTLAND, ME 04101Florence House, one of Preble Street’s Housing First programs, provides comprehensive supportive services, shelter, and permanent housing for women 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Florence House has an available full-time Housing Support Staff position. This direct service position outreaches and engages with clients and tenants, participates in casework service provision, provide program coverage and maintains safety in program spaces, provides crisis intervention and support, and assists clients and tenants in meeting housing goals and maintaining housing stability.
The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30 pm.
QualificationsQualifications include a combination of work experience, education, and/or training likely to provide the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the work of the Housing Support Staff, as well as an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services. Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS) certification is required and can be obtained on the job/after hire.
Required skills and knowledge include strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; familiarity with community resources; ability to work with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work as part of a team.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate of pay for these full-time (40 hours/week) positions is $23.82 per hour. Direct service positions in 24/7 programs are also eligible for shift differentials $1 per hour for all hours worked between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:
160 hours (4 weeks, accrued) vacation time, 96 hours (12 days, accrued) sick time, 32 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays
