Machine Operator Shift – 1st Shift

Shift/Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:00AM - 2:00PM; Friday 5:00AM - 1:00PM

As a Machine Operator at Pratt Industries – San Antonio, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production machinery. This position involves a variety of tasks, including machine setup, operation, cleanup, and troubleshooting, with a focus on safety, meeting customer demand and maintaining high-quality standards. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, constantly striving for improvements in equipment efficiency while ensuring safety and cleanliness in your work area.

  • Active participation in meeting production schedules and resolving challenges proactively.

Key Duties and Success Factors:

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all Pratt Industries Safety rules and procedures. Engage in safety committees and encourage colleagues to follow safety practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Pratt’s Quality procedure to ensure only top-quality products are delivered to customer. Prevent defective products by addressing issues during production.
  • Operational Efficiency: Maximize machine utilization by running equipment at optimal capacity and speed. Continuously improve set up times, minimize downtime, and identify maintenance needs to improve overall production efficiency.
  • Training & Development: Assist in training new team members, including Assistant Machine Operators and Production Utilities. Cross-train on various machines and positions to support plant operations and personal growth.
  • Reporting & Maintenance: Complete daily reports on production data, machine status, safety, and quality. Actively submit maintenance requests for necessary machine repairs and preform proactive housekeeping.
  • Flexibility & Teamwork: Adapt to changing production needs, including overtime or holiday work, and collaborate with team members to meet shifting goals.

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • Experience: Ideal candidates should have at least 5+ years of prior experience operating a WARD Flexo with 4 Colors.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and follow instructions related to safety, quality, and job procedures
    • Strong mathematical skills for calculations such as percentages, volume, and measurements.
    • Mechanical understanding to identify equipment issues and improve machine performance.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform carious tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Certifications: Lift Truck Operator License may be required.
