Job Summary / Purpose 

           

The Counsel is responsible for all real estate and engineering/store planning documents for the Americas.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Leases and related documents
    • Review, negotiate and revise all leases for retail stores, outlets, warehouses and storage locations, working closely with the Director of Real Estate – Americas
    • Draft letter agreements for various side projects at leased locations
    • Review and manage lease estoppels and SNDAs
    • Draft lease abstracts/summaries for each signed lease/renewal, and circulate to local departments and the HQ Real Estate and Engineering teams (and HQ Real Estate/Engineering & Store Planning Legal Department)
    • Draft board memo and board consent for each lease (except for storage leases)

 

  • Engineering documents
    • Review, negotiate and revise general contractor agreements or implement existing MSA general contractor agreements, for retail stores, concessions, outlets, warehouses and storage locations, working closely with the Project Managers in the Engineering/Store Planning Department
    • Review, negotiate and revise purchase order agreements for millwork, marble and facades, and architect agreements, for retail stores, concessions, outlets, warehouses and storage locations, working closely with the Project Managers in the Engineering Department/Store Planning Department
    • Review, negotiate and revise service agreements for lighting, HVAC, etc. for retail stores, concessions, outlets, warehouses and storage locations
    • Review, negotiate and revise build-out agreements using agreed upon established templates with department stores for US and Canada concession locations

 

  • Reports and Summaries; Template Management
    • Manage and update the Real Estate master property chart of high-level business terms for the Americas to share with the local and HQ teams
    • Annually update the list of lease required advertising for the advertising team
    • Maintain and update the existing engineering templates for general contractors, purchase order agreements, architect agreements and service agreements

 

  • Meetings
    • Hold weekly meetings with the Director of Real Estate – Americas
    • Lead weekly 1:1 real estate and engineering/store planning review meetings with the General Counsel
    • Hold weekly meetings with project managers in the Engineering/Store Planning Department
    • Hold bi-monthly meetings with the SVP of Engineering/Store Planning

 

Qualifications / Requirements

 

  • Graduate of an accredited US law school
  • Member of New York State Bar in good standing
  • 5+ years of leasing and construction contract experience at a US law firm or US retail company (company can be a subsidiary of a European company)
  • Fluency in English

 

Compensation

 

The annual salary range for this position may vary from $240,000 - $255,000, and if applicable, may be eligible for bonuses and other incentive opportunities. The rate of pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
