Based in the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) facility, the Quality Technologist – PSS will report to the PSS Project Manager.  A Quality Technologist will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance internally and externally on troubleshooting, warranty concerns and field service support. 
 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Receive, record and analyze customer warranty and problem reports to provide result orientated technical solutions for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Provide over the phone support to customers for troubleshooting operational, design or technical concerns. 
  • Review and understand Customer Specifications, Quality Test Reports and Vendor Test Reports.
  • Create Warranty Response plans including additional test plans, as required.
  • Read and interpret a wide variety of technical drawings including mechanical 3D models, mechanical and electrical interlocks, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Review and provide feedback to engineering, operations and quality on customer experienced concerns for operational excellence and lessons learned. 
  • Sales Orders; Generate for material requirements
  • Attend, as needed, Customer Facilities and Sites for investigations, inspections and hands-on work
  • Facilitate PSD Field Service Mobilization as required
  • Set the example for team members on expectations, accountability and attitude.
  • Lead special projects, as required.
  • Other duties, as required.
     

Core Competencies

  • Strong electrical understanding and aptitude of 600V to 38kV systems. 
  • Ability to establish priorities and balance multiple objectives
  • Ability to follow company operating procedures, safety rules and ISO requirements

Qualifications 

  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree preferred. 
  • 2+ years working with Powell equipment preferred. 
     

Work Authorization: This is a permanent position. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire. Immigration sponsorship is not typically available and will be considered only where supported by business needs and applicable legal requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Temperature controlled working environment
  • Job requires working in an office setting, manufacturing setting and on customer sites. 
  • Must wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes) when required
  • Working around, with and testing powered up equipment. 
     

Physical Requirements

  • Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner
  • Standing, walking, and speaking for long periods of time
  • Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm
  • Perceiving size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with the fingertips
