Position Summary 

OBJECTIVE

The human resources generalist position performs HR-related duties at a professional level and works closely with their assigned HR Business Partner to support designated work groups and/or geographic locations. The HR generalist position handles responsibilities across the functional areas of benefits, compensation/rewards, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, recruitment/employment, and policies/procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as direct contact for work groups as assigned.
  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Performs benefits administration, including change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Assists in the recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel; conducts new hire orientations; monitors the career-pathing program and writes and places advertisements.
  • Responsible for working with hiring managers to complete candidate interviews
  • Conducts pre-employment testing and new hire onboarding.
  • Assists with the maintenance of all HR data, which includes employee data, processing of e-forms, maintenance of Job Descriptions, Legal/Policy Updates, employee files, and other compliance-related assignments.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviews.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in implementing processes and procedures for employee relations and compliance with HR policies in field locations, including required posters/postings.
  • Assists in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the HR department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department and the services it provides.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations and assists with maintaining HR compliance at branch/site locations.
  • Assists with all areas within the HR function as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 3 plus years of progressive HR experience
  • Requires willingness to travel and work extended hours during times of heavy workload.
  • Demonstrated experience with Workday and ADP systems
  • Have strong numerical skills and experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Possess an open communication style that builds strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate the capability to find new ways to overcome business challenges
