About this role

 

The Accounting Clerk ensures up-to-date financial records with timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments for a portfolio of properties and development projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

  • Ensuring invoices are reviewed and verified for accuracy and approval before processing for payment;
  • Ensuring payables and receivables are approved for posting and correctly coded and dated;
  • Issuing accounts receivable invoices and processing chargebacks;
  • Promptly depositing cheques, doing bank runs, and booking receipts to ensure ledger is updated in a timely manner; and
  • Maintaining a simple set of books for some of our entities.

Administrative Support

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial transactions and supporting documentation; and
  • Providing general administrative support to the accounting department, including photocopying, filing, sorting, organizing, and retrieving data and documents as requested by accountants.


QUALIFICATIONS

1. Academic, technical, and professional competence

  • College diploma or certificate in Accounting; and
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Experience with Yardi is an asset

2. Work Experience and Job Skills

A demonstrated track record with 1 years’ in a related role

  • Experience in professional office environment;
  • Experience providing accurate and timely AP/AR functions is an asset;
  • Diligently dealing with methods of organization and detail in performing their duties;
  • Efficient and effective time management, demonstrating ability to meet deadlines while producing quality and accurate work;
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn quickly and multi-task priorities; and
  • Developing strong, positive, and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders while practicing excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in property management or development accounting is an asset.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per annum based on experience
