About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Project Control/Change Order Engineer to join our team. This full-time, on-site position is located in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in New Federal (GSA, DoD) Construction projects, particularly those exceeding $150 million.
What you'll do
- Assist in the planning, execution, and closing of construction projects.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all project communications and decisions.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely and accurate document flow of RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders and Modifications.
- Receive submittals, drawings, RFIs, change orders, correspondence and supplemental agreements from contractors and submit for review/approval to pertinent Owner staff, reviewers and consultants.
- Evaluate and quantitatively analyze all submissions for completeness and timeliness. Notify appropriate parties of any anomalies or of situations requiring resolution.
- Prepare and distribute daily and weekly reports on RFIs and submittals.
- Create and maintain files in PMIS or CMIS software for project and specified task orders issued against contract.
- Document and Evaluate contractor Potential Change Orders (PCOs) for impact to schedule and budget.
- Maintain records on project costs, time schedules, contractor performance and contract changes.
- Assist in compilation of contract modification packages.
- Implement and enforce document control procedures to maintain compliance with project standards and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of project reports and presentations.
- Utilize document management systems and software to streamline processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in Construction Management or Engineering or (BA) in Architecture.
- Demonstrated experience with new federal construction projects valued at $150 million or more.
- Experience with campus projects, with a preference for historic campuses.
- Ability to evaluate contractor requests for change orders and prepare written reports on project status.
- Proficiency in reading construction drawings.
- Skilled in maintaining records on project costs, time schedules, contractor performance, and contract changes.
- Excellent Communication and Collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Project Management Information Systems required (Procore, eBuilder, Kahua, etc)
- Successful completion of an HSPD-12 background check is required for this position.
