The Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer

Your Role:  As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support the NPI (New Product Introduction) division in the design and development of cutting-edge technology, new products, processes, and automation for OEMs and startups. This role provides expertise to solve, design, process, and manufacturing challenges using various tools of the trade, including CAD, FEA, and other hands-on activities.

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Essential Functions: 
  • Using CAD and other tools, ability to generate designs and manufacturing drawings adhering to customer specifications within defined cost, quality and delivery parameters.
  • Provide concepts and drawings in analog and digital formats.
  • Provide engineering analysis to support manufacturing, design and process development
  • Apply knowledge in mechanical power transmission, fluid power, mechanical components, fabrication and basic automation for design and development.
  • Work with and support cross-disciplinary teams to solve product design, manufacturing and process problems.
  • Ability to respond quickly and professionally adhering to delivery requirements.
  • Participate in customer meetings and travel (<5days/year) as required.
  • Utilize problem solving and creative thinking skills to develop solutions and implement design options with customers, suppliers and manufacturing, while working collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Hands on: assembly / testing support to support prototyping and process development

Basic Qualifications:
  • CAD for 3D design and detailing; Solidworks, Inventor and/or CREO skills required.
  • Experienced in technical communication internally and externally; email, technical write-up, presentation, meetings.
  • MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Engineering Design: CAD, FEA, FMEA techniques, Analysis (stress, displacement, thermal), DFMA, tolerance analysis and GDT.
  • Experienced in developing and communicating project progress.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes, i.e. machining (CNC, Mill, Lathe), sheet metal, welding, and materials.
  • Minimum education: BSME – 4 YEAR Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Technology Degree
  • 3-5 years Engineering Design or problem solving with commercial or industrial equipment/processes.
  • 1-2 years minimum CAD design experience in SolidWorks or CREO.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes i.e, machining, sheet metal manufacture, plastics processing, costing & finishing in general.

Preferred Experience:
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and software a plus

A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $75,000-$85,000 per year. The wage range for this role considers a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational requirements.
