Job Description

Peerless-AV is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Associate to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing, packaging, processing, wrapping, and staging outbound shipments to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, safely, and on time.

The ideal candidate has previous shipping or warehouse experience, is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and must be able to safely operate a sit-down forklift. This position will perform a combination of shipping clerk, pallet wrapping, material handling, and general shipping department responsibilities.

Qualifications

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of shipping, warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution experience preferred.
  • Sit-down forklift experience required.
  • Experience using StarShip shipping software preferred.
  • Experience with UPS WorldShip and/or FedEx Ship Manager is a plus.
  • Experience operating an order picker is a plus.
  • Experience operating an automated stretch wrapping machine or other pallet wrapping equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with LTL freight shipments, bills of lading, and shipping documentation preferred.
  • Experience using an ERP or inventory management system preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of warehouse safety practices.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Shipping & Order Processing

  • Process daily domestic and international shipments using StarShip or other designated shipping software.
  • Generate shipping labels, packing slips, bills of lading, and other required shipping documentation.
  • Verify products, quantities, addresses, and order information prior to shipment.
  • Ensure customer orders are packaged, labeled, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate shipments with parcel carriers, LTL freight carriers, and internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate shipment information and records within the company's ERP and shipping systems.
  • Assist with maintaining an adequate inventory of shipping and packaging supplies.

Pallet Wrapping & Shipment Preparation

  • Operate the automated stretch wrapping machine to securely prepare pallets for shipment.
  • Inspect pallets before wrapping to ensure products are properly stacked, stable, and free from visible damage.
  • Apply corner boards, top sheets, edge protectors, stretch film, and other packaging materials as required.
  • Monitor the wrapping process to ensure proper film tension, coverage, and overall package integrity.
  • Affix appropriate shipping labels, identification tags, and documentation to completed pallets.
  • Replace stretch wrap film and perform minor machine adjustments as needed.
  • Report damaged products, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the Shipping Supervisor.

Material Handling & Warehouse Support

  • Safely operate a sit-down forklift as an essential function of the position.
  • Load and unload trucks using a sit-down forklift or other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Move, retrieve, and stage pallets and materials throughout the shipping and warehouse areas.
  • Stage completed and wrapped pallets in designated shipping areas.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other approved warehouse equipment as required.
  • Operate an order picker when trained and authorized, as needed.
  • Maintain production and shipping pace while meeting quality and accuracy standards.
  • Assist with other shipping, warehouse, and material-handling duties based on departmental needs.

SAFETY & HOUSEKEEPING

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet wrapping equipment, pallet jacks, and other authorized equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and warehouse area.
  • Keep aisles, work areas, and emergency access points clear of materials and trip hazards.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, product damage, or other safety concerns to supervision.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, as business needs require.
  • Must be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, gripping, reaching, pushing, and pulling throughout an 8+ hour shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 30 lbs. without assistance. Items exceeding 30 lbs. require a team lift or appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Must be able to safely and consistently operate a sit-down forklift.
  • Must be able to work in areas that are not climate-controlled or dust-controlled.
  • Must be able to work around moving equipment and active shipping/warehouse operations.
  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment, including safety-toe shoes, safety glasses, harnesses, and other PPE as required.
  • Must comply with all company safety, quality, and attendance requirements.
