Job Title: Physical Therapist

Department: Physical and Occupational Therapy

Reports To: Therapy Clinic Manager 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary

The Physical Therapist will administer medically necessary physical therapy services as prescribed by physicians to patients with neuromuscular and/or musculoskeletal disorders. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Schedule, examine, evaluate, and identify physical capabilities and disabilities.

    Develop therapeutic goals, objectives, and treatment plans. 

    Use therapeutic techniques and exercise. 

    Monitor and chart patient’s therapy progress.

    Participate in medical therapy conferences. 

    Evaluate, order, and maintain medically necessary equipment related to this discipline.

    Maintain medical charts. 

    Fabricate and maintain special adaptive therapy equipment and devices. 

    Assist physicians in the evaluation of patients by administering various ability tests.

    Provide consultation and instruction to parents and relatives or interested individuals in methods of continuation of treatment at home. 

    Other duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

    Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree from a Physical Therapy program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Education of the American Physical Therapy Association is required

    Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia and able to obtain and provide proof of a Georgia Physical Therapist licensure at the commencement of employment required

    Knowledgeable in orthopedic terminology, basic billing functions, basic clinical functions, administrative practices, operational systems and procedures in medical setting.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations 

    Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia and able to obtain and provide proof of a Georgia Physical Therapist licensure at the commencement of employment required

    American Heart Association's Certification - BLS Certified 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires regular standing, walking, reaching, handling, talking, and hearing, with occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and may assist patients with movement, standing, or walking. The role may require extended periods on one’s feet and can be physically and emotionally demanding when working with injured patients. Close vision is required. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
