Summary
The Front Desk Coordinator – ASC oversees front desk operations and serves as the primary point of contact for patients, visitors, physicians, vendors, and Ambulatory Surgery Center staff. This role is responsible for patient registration, scheduling support, payment collection, communication management, workflow coordination, customer service, and operational support. The Front Desk Coordinator – ASC partners with physicians, clinical teams, patients, vendors, and leadership to ensure exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, accurate information management, and a positive patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, vendors, and guests while maintaining a professional, courteous, and service-oriented environment.
- Coordinate patient check-in activities, demographic verification, insurance updates, and electronic medical record maintenance.
- Collect patient payments, maintain daily collection logs, prepare deposits, and coordinate courier pickups as required.
- Prepare daily patient charts and ensure all required documentation is complete and available.
- Assess patient needs, including wheelchair and ambulation requirements, and coordinate assistance as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical teams, and surgery center staff to support patient flow and operational efficiency.
- Monitor front desk workflows, visitor management, supply deliveries, and reception operations to ensure service excellence.
- Maintain waiting room appearance, front office organization, and operational readiness.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement operational efficiencies that enhance customer service and patient satisfaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one year of customer service experience required; healthcare front desk experience preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance plans, patient registration processes, healthcare operations, and customer service principles preferred.
- Experience with Athena, SIS, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and electronic medical record systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide workflow support and operational assistance as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
Primarily office-based role requiring prolonged standing, sitting, computer use, communication, and interaction with patients, visitors, vendors, and staff. Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required. Travel between ASC locations may be required based on operational needs.
