Software Engineer, Fleet Platform

Columbus, Ohio · On-site

About this role

Build the Path Forward

At Path Robotics, we’re building the future of embodied intelligence. Our AI-driven systems enable robots to adapt, learn, and perform in the real world closing the skilled labor gap and transforming industries. We go beyond traditional methods, combining perception, reasoning, and control to deliver field-ready AI that is risk-aware, reliable, and continuously improving through real-world use.

Big, hard problems are our everyday work, and our team of intelligent, humble, and driven people make the impossible possible together.

We are seeking a Platform-focused Software Engineer to join our team. You will bridge the gap between software development and fleet orchestration, building the infrastructure that powers our robots, both locally and in the cloud. This role requires a unique blend of developer skills and platform operations experience to build the tools, automation, and observability systems that ensure our robotic deployments are scalable, secure, and reliable. If you are passionate about solving complex, real-world robotics problems and eager to shape the future of manufacturing, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

Tech you will use:

  • Languages: Python, Terraform HCL, Node.js, Ansible
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
  • Fleet & Robotics: OTA (Over-the-Air) software deployment systems, Observability tooling (e.g., Foxglove),
  • Identity & Security: Enterprise AuthN/AuthZ integrations.
  • Collaboration: CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Jira/Confluence, Google Workspace.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Platform Development: Build and scale configuration management processes to support our robotic fleet.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Automate complex infrastructure processes, including enterprise-scale AWS account management and deployments.
  • Fleet Orchestration: Design and maintain OTA (Over-the-Air) software deployment systems to ensure seamless updates across our robotic assets.
  • Identity & Access: Support the migration and management of enterprise-level AuthN and AuthZ for internal and external applications.
  • Observability: Implement and enhance robotics observability tooling (e.g., Foxglove) to improve robot-to-cloud integration and monitoring.
  • Incident Management: Develop automated incident reporting and escalation tooling to proactively identify and resolve production issues.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside product engineers to ensure the platform meets the needs of both the robotic fleet and the applications that interface with it.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years of experience in production support, development, and DevOps practices.
  • The Hybrid Engineer: You understand the interdependent relationship between product features and the underlying infrastructure. You apply software development best practices (reusable code, automated testing) to platform engineering.
  • Infrastructure Pro: You are proficient in managing cloud environments (AWS) and understand the complexities of multi-account deployments.
  • Robotics Enthusiast: You are excited by the challenge of moving data between robots and the cloud. You have hands-on experience or a strong interest in tools for remote robotics tooling (e.g., Foxglove, Rerun).
  • Security-Minded: You have experience with Enterprise AuthN/AuthZ and understand the importance of secure identity management at scale.
  • Problem Solver: You thrive on troubleshooting complex, distributed issues and are committed to automating your way out of manual tasks.

Company at a glance

Path Robotics was founded by brothers Andy and Alex Lonsberry with a desire to help fill workforce gaps in the manufacturing industry.

At Path Robotics, we understand manufacturers are constantly being asked to do more with less; more reshoring, more demand, and more requirements with less time, less talent, and less tolerance. We’re helping guide the Fourth Industrial Revolution in manufacturing by providing robotic support to help keep up with those challenges. Our welding robots absorb high-volume, repetitive tasks by leveraging AI and machine learning. By doing this, we’re putting humans in safe, productive environments that allows manufacturers to increase productivity and grow their business.
