Partners Group's Investment Legal team comprises senior lawyers across the globe responsible for providing best-in-class legal advice across all asset classes throughout the investment lifecycle. The team operates at the heart of the firm, regularly interacting with senior management, investment teams, and external counsel, and ensures a business-minded approach to investment-related legal matters.

 

The Investment Legal team is seeking a senior legal counsel with an interest in building upon their existing transactional experience to develop a career across private markets investing. You will support Partners Group's investment professionals in critical legal matters during the investment process. Your main responsibility will be to manage the key legal and investment structuring aspects of various investment processes, including reviewing key terms of transaction documents, addressing concerns from investment committees and liaising with external counsel in various jurisdictions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to investment professionals across the Americas on critical matters and across all of Partners Group's asset classes;
  • Review and discuss the advice of external counsel where required;
  • Ensure adherence to Partners Group standards and processes;
  • Provide internal legal assessments (e.g., conflicts of interests, opinions) to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence with internal policies;
  • Represent legal matters at investment committees;
  • Support other teams (including, but not limited to, tax, structuring, compliance, and general counsel's office) with investment and other relevant legal queries on an ad-hoc basis; and
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at identifying and implementing areas for improvement and/or seeking to enhance existing processes within the team, department or the wider firm.

 

 
What we expect

 

  • Top academic credentials and qualified lawyer;
  • Significant post-qualification experience at a top tier law firm, bank and/or asset manager, focusing on M&A and/or funds;
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and project management skills;
  • Adaptable and solutions oriented with an understanding of market terms;
  • A team-player with superior communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and makes things happen;
  • Good understanding of the firm’s business and industry; and
  • In-house secondment and/or regulatory (e.g. ERISA, Investment Company Act) experience a strong plus.

  • Partners Group compensation has a long-term outlook and philosophy, and our total compensation emphasizes performance based long-term incentives. Base pay range for this role is $247,000 – 309,000 and a performance-based bonus is an additional component of the total compensation package
